United boss Paul Hurst has spoken after securing the signing of left-back Kgosi Ntlhe on a one-year contract.

The defender has been with his new team-mates in La Manga for the last week on a pre-season training camp, and has impressed already.

“I watched him last season and have brought him in as a left-back, but he can play centre-back,” Hurst told iFollow Iron.

“He’s not the tallest of players but he’s got an excellent leap on him. He’s competitive, quick, mobile and aggressive in terms of playing on the front foot.

“The early signs from him have been extremely positive. The players and myself have been impressed with him and hopefully that can continue.

“He’s coming from the level above but he’s perhaps ready for a new challenge. I don’t think it’s about him coming here and thinking it’s going to be easy. He’s been at a club that at times have had to fight and did so last season.

“We’re going to need that at times too. Hopefully we can be a good team in League Two, but there will certainly be times when you have to fight and he’s shown he’s capable of that.

“He has an infectious personality. He ticks all the boxes and fingers crossed he can be a good signing. You want the lads to feel at home, it’s important they get on with their team-mates, and it seems like a good group from that point of view.”
