Eddie Ilderton will be the man in the middle for the Iron's home league clash against Coventry City on Saturday.
The Tyne and Wear-based official will travel to Glanford Park for his fourth game of the campaign and second in Sky Bet League One. The current campaign is Ilderton's 16th in the EFL.
His first game of the campaign was a League Two affair between Carlisle United and Colchester United on December 15th. That encounter ended 4-0 to the Cumbrians, with Ilderton showing three yellow cards.
Meanwhile, his most recent game saw him show five yellow cards in the 1-1 draw between Burton Albion and Plymouth Argyle on December 29th.
He's taken charge of Scunthorpe matches on no fewer than 22 previous occasions ranging from the old Division Three, through to the Championship and cup competitions. His last encounter involving United came almost a year ago when he oversaw the 1-1 draw against Doncaster Rovers.
Saturday will be Ilderton's 20th visit as referee to Glanford Park with 19 out of his 22 appointments involving the Iron all being at home. In total, across the 22 games, he's shown 62 yellow cards and four red. Two of those reds have been to United players, while the other two were shown to opposition players.
Ilderton has taken charge of 12 Coventry City games over the last 15 years with his most recent back in April. the Sky Blues were on the wrong end of a 6-2 scoreline at the Ricoh Arena when Yeovil Town were the visitors. In total, across the 12 games, he's shown 44 yellows and one red.
In 2017-18, he took charge of 30 games, issuing 85 yellow cards and seven reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in three encounters, showing 12 yellows and no red cards.
On Saturday, he will be assisted by Anthony Moore and Helen Byrne, while Thomas Bramall has been appointed as the fourth official.
