The Iron travel to Barnsley on Good Friday and Graham Alexander will take charge of the side for the first time.
The new boss was appointed on Tuesday and takes on a United side that has been in a good run of form of late.

That has given the Iron a chance of making the play-offs, and victory over Barnsley could help to close the gap on the top six.

The Tykes have been in good form themselves though, with a massive turnaround in results seeing them move from the bottom four to sixth.

Paul Heckingbottom has carried on Lee Johnson’s good work after the former boss left for Championship side Bristol City last month.

New Iron boss Graham Alexander has a near full strength squad to choose from for his first game in charge of the team.

Scott Wiseman is the only long-term absentee and is unlikely to play a part for the rest of the season, while Sean McAllister remains a doubt with an ankle problem.

Gary McSheffrey will also not be available after the attacker joined neighbours Doncaster Rovers on loan until the end of the season.

Former Iron Sam Winnall has been in excellent for this season, finding the net 18 times in all competitions.

The striker joined the Tykes from Scunthorpe last summer and netted 13 times in all competitions, despite missing a couple of months through injury.

Winnall was an integral part of the Iron squad that achieved promotion from League Two in 2013/14, scoring 23 goals along the way.

The 24-year-old was the league’s golden boot winner in that season and was also nominated for the League Two Player of the Year Award as well.

He joined the Iron from Wolves where he had found game time hard to come by, and since then he has seen his career flourish.

Winnall will hope to continue his impressive form, which has seen him win League One Player of the Month, as Barnsley strive for a place in the League One play-offs.

This will be the fourth time that the two sides have met each other this campaign, with the Iron winning the league meeting and Barnsley progressing in the cup clashes.

The Iron won on their visit to Oakwell last season, beating the South Yorkshire side 2-1 after falling behind.

Marcello Trotta gave the hosts a first half lead, but United hit back swiftly thanks to Paddy Madden’s cool finish.

The Irishman then netted his second of the match on the stroke of half-time to secure the victory, running through and beating ‘keeper Ross Turnbull.
