Hurst: Junior ticks a lot of boxes

29 August 2019

Manager Paul Hurst has spoken about the loan addition of left-back Junior Brown, who is a player he knows well from his time managing the 30-year-old at Shrewsbury Town.

The defender, who can also play further up the pitch, signed on loan until January from Coventry City on Thursday and adds further competition to the left side of the pitch.

Hurst told iFollow Iron: “We’re pleased. He’s a player that I know well. He has a good attitude and character. He’s experienced and ticks a lot of boxes that you’d want in a signing and brings competition to an area that I’ve stated I thought we were light in.

“He gives me potential to change how we play and set up, if I wanted to. He can play further up the pitch and has done in the past, although I do think his best position is at left-back.

“I’m pleased we’ve managed to get him. It’s something we’ve been looking at for some time and now it’s finally done and dusted, he can get on with getting to know his team-mates.

“He’s got a certain style to him that I know well. I feel he improved under us previously and enjoyed working with myself and Chris (Doig, assistant manager). That was part of the reason he was more than happy to join us. Hopefully he can see that he’ll contribute to the squad on and off the pitch.”
