Paul Marsden will be the man in the middle for the Iron's away league clash against Shrewsbury Town.

The Lancashire-based official will travel to Montgomery Waters Meadow for his 32nd game of the campaign and his eighth in Sky Bet League One.

His first game of the campaign saw him officiate in Mansfield Town's opening day 3-0 victory over Newport County in which Neal Bishop became his first EFL yellow card. His most recent appointment came on March 23rd when he oversaw Forest Green Rovers' 2-0 away win at Port Vale in a match where he showed just one yellow card.

When he refereed the Iron earlier in the season at Glanford Park, it was his first-ever League One clash. Scunthorpe drew 3-3 with Oxford United in that fixture, coming from 3-0 down. He showed a total of eight yellow cards that day, three of which going to Iron players.

Marsden has taken charge of one Shrewsbury Town clash too - their 1-1 draw with Manchester City Under-21s in the Checkatrade Trophy back in August. He didn't show any cards that night.

He was the fourth official at the National League play-off final at Wembley at the end of last season when Tranmere defeated Boreham Wood 2-1. He then became one of just six to make the leap into the professional game after a hugely impressive season in the middle.

In 2017-18, he took charge of 21 games in the National League, issuing 74 yellow cards and eight reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 31 encounters, showing 86 yellows and ten reds.

On Saturday, he will be assisted by Matthew Jones and Steven Rushton, while Richard Bartlett has been appointed as the fourth official.
