Brett Huxtable to referee Charlton Athletic away clash

21 April 2019

Brett Huxtable will be the man in the middle for the Iron's away league clash against Charlton Athletic on Easter Monday.

The Devon-based official will travel to the Valley for his 38th game of the campaign and his 11th in Sky Bet League One.

His first game of the campaign was Chelsea Under-21s' emphatic 4-0 away victory at Swindon Town in the Checkatrade Trophy. He showed one yellow card in the game, which saw former Iron loanee Ike Ugbo net for the Blues. His most recent appointment came on Good Friday when he took charge of the Robins again, but this time away at Cambridge United.

He's taken charge of the Iron on just one previous occasion back in February 2017. He made the long trip to Glanford Park in the slender victory for Shrewsbury Town. On that day, he showed one yellow card to each team.

Meanwhile, he's refereed Charlton Athletic on three previous occasions. Most Addicks fans will remember the last encounter back in September when he showed no fewer than seven yellow cards and three reds. The encounter came at Roots Hall, with Charlton securing a late winner over Southend United. The game would explode in stoppage time though, with Mark Oxley, Michael Kightly and Tarique Fosu-Henry all dismissed.

In 2017-18, he took charge of 37 games, issuing 136 yellow cards and seven reds. So far in this campaign, he has officiated in 36 encounters, showing 125 yellows and seven reds.

On Monday, Huxtable will be assisted by Paul Yates and Garry Maskell, while Graham Kane has been appointed as the fourth official.
