Winger Ryan Colclough believes the Iron are taking a step in the right direction following back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Stuart McCall’s team take on Burton Albion this Saturday and the 23-year-old will be looking to start his fourth league game in a row after helping United rise to 11th in the table.

Speaking to iFollow Iron, Colclough said: “Back-to-back wins is a great stride for us, so we are really happy as a squad with that.

“It is still early but we are definitely going in the right direction.

“We battled really well and saw the game out well last week. We showed a real togetherness and came through the game really strong.”

However, Colclough still feels that there is more to come from him personally.

He said: “I feel good, but I could still be fitter and stronger. That is something I will work on.

“In every game that I start and the more minutes I play, I will be getting fitter and stronger.”

Burton stand in the Iron’s way this weekend and Colclough knows that it will be a difficult matchup.

“They came down last year so it will be a tough game, but I am sure we will be ready for the test,” said the midfielder.

He added: “Training has been good and we have worked on a few things. We set up to win games and that is what we have worked on this week.”
