Wallace and his team-mates will come up against Rotherham United in the first leg of their League One play-off semi-finals this Saturday (12.30pm kick-off).

The 25-year-old centre-back has told iFollow Iron that confidence levels are high, but the squad knows what has to be done.

Wallace discussed this, how much promotion would mean and the atmosphere at Glanford Park in an interview with the club website.

ON HOW CONFIDENT THE TEAM ARE GOING INTO THE FIXTURE…
MW: Massively confident. We are in a good run of form but we finished quite strongly at the end of last season too. Therefore, nothing should be taken for granted. Just because we are on a good run it doesn’t mean that we can just go out there and just turn it on. We need to work as hard as ever.

ON HOW IT FEELS TO BE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE PLAY-OFFS…
MW: It’s great and something that we have set as a target since the start of the season. We were looking to progress on last season’s finish and maybe sneak into those automatic positions but it hasn’t worked out that way. In the end we have had to find our form again to finish in the play-offs. We are all excited for them.

ON HOW MUCH IT WOULD MEAN TO GAIN PROMOTION…
MW: That’s what we all want to do. We want to go two better than last season and get promoted. However, it’s just important that we stay focused on this game and treat it as a game that we have to win. We shouldn’t think too much about the second leg. We just need to focus on this game.

ON WHAT HE IS EXPECTING FROM ROTHERHAM…
MW: I can remember that they were quite a direct and hardworking team. The first time that we played them they had the big target-man Kieffer Moore with them. He’s moved on now but they are using another target-man now (Michael Smith).

ON HOW TO PREPARE FOR ROTHERHAM UNITED…
MW: We know all about them. We have got to improve our performances. They have beaten us twice and that’s something that we want to change.

ON HOW IMPORTANT THE IRON’S RECENT FORM IS…
MW: It is huge. There were times during the season where teams were getting one or two chances and nicking a goal. That was a bit demoralising for a bit so it’s good to be playing well and picking up results.

ON HOW MUCH LAST YEAR’S PLAY-OFFS RESULT DRIVES HIM ON…
MW: That experience can only benefit us. The frustration from not getting further can hopefully spur us on to do better.

ON HOW HE FEELS AFTER BEING RESTED AGAINST BRADFORD…
MW: I feel good. I would have loved to have played in that game as I don’t like to have my feet up. I feel a bit lost when I do but I do feel refreshed. It’s important that we use all of the squad because you never know what might happen and who might have to come in. Over the season it’s the whole squad that wins games.

ON HOW BIG THE ATMOSPHERE WILL BE IN THIS WEEKEND’S GAME…
MW: The fans have been turning up in good numbers. They have been pushing us on to get better and we have been doing that.
