Ivan Toney says confidence is high as the Iron prepare for the first leg of their League One play-off semi-final clash with Rotherham United on Saturday (12.30pm kick-off).
The 22-year-old striker has found a vein of form recently, having scored five goals in his last seven games.
However, Toney was keen to move the focus onto the whole team and praise the squad for the position that they’ve put themselves in.
He discussed the play-offs, his preparations and the opposition in an interview with iFollow Iron.
ON HOW TRAINING HAS GONE THIS WEEK…
IT: It’s been a great week of training. The lads are confident and we can’t wait for Saturday.
ON HIS PERSONAL CONFIDENCE HEADING INTO THE PLAY-OFFS…
IT: On behalf of myself and the team, we are very confident. We have been playing great so no matter who is starting or coming off the bench, I’m sure we have got a strong enough squad to do the job.
ON THE CONFIDENCE LEVELS GOING INTO THIS WEEKEND’S FIXTURE…
IT: You’ve seen in the previous games that we are keeping clean sheets and doing it well. I can’t wait to get out on the pitch and get the job done.
ON HOW GOOD IT FEELS TO BE IN THE PLAY-OFFS…
IT: It’s good to be in the play-offs but there’s no point in being in them if you’re not going to get the job done. The lads are confident that we can do it.
ON HOW TO PREPARE FOR ROTHERHAM AFTER THEIR TWO PREVIOUS LEAGUE CLASHES…
IT: I guess we owe them a loss if they have done the double over us. Hopefully, the lads are going to do the job on the days and it will be enough.
ON HOW GOOD IT FEELS HEADING INTO THE PLAY-OFFS WITH A GOOD RUN OF FORM…
IT: The lads have done great and we’ve put ourselves in a position where we are eight games unbeaten. That puts us in a good position ahead of Saturday.
ON HOW TO APPROACH THE PLAY-OFFS…
IT: Just don’t get beat. That’s how the boys see it. If we don’t get beat then we will be in a strong position.
ON THE IMPACT OF THE FANS…
IT: Their support has had a big impact. I’m sure that they know it and I’m sure that they will keep up their support and get us through.
