Messingham Juniors U8s enjoy flag bearing experience

3 May 2018

Local junior football side Messingham Juniors U8s enjoyed a flag bearing experience ahead of the Iron’s 2-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle.

The team took advantage of a group booking package for the day and were a part of the pre-match schedule, with Sky Sports featuring the game live on television.

Nine players from the side enjoyed the experience, as both teams entered the field of play prior to the game - just one of a number of sides who have been able to take part during the course of the campaign.

They were then present as Hakeeb Adelakun and Ivan Toney steered the team to the play-offs.

We now have no availability remaining for flag bearing in the 2017-18 campaign. If you'd like to get your local grassroots side involved and register your interest for 2018-19, please email james.moody@scunthorpe-united.co.uk.

Following the visit, one of the team’s parents Sandra Byrne said: “On behalf of the parents of the Messingham Juniors Under-8s team, please may I extend our heartfelt thanks to you for the opportunity for our team to be flag bearers at the match versus Plymouth Argyle.

“All the kids were so excited to be involved and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is so good to see the club working with the local grassroots team in this way, nurturing the interest of the next generation of supporters.

“We wish the team the very best of luck in the forthcoming play-offs and hopefully the trip to Wembley!”
