Report: Notts County Under-18s 1-1 Iron Under-18s

24 March 2018

The Iron’s Under-18 team drew 1-1 away at their Notts County counterparts on Saturday.

There had been a big accident on the M1 earlier in the day which saw the team bus caught up in traffic and delayed them getting to the game. The match kicked off three hours later than planned as a consequence.

Notts County moved the ball really well in the first-half and created a few chances, scoring from a corner which was disappointing from United’s perspective.

The most pleasing thing from the first half was the Iron stayed in the game, and the Iron's players adapted really well to the information given at half-time.

In the second half, United played really well and levelled through a goal from substitute Miracle Okafor.

A great ball was played down the side by Kane Bartholomew, and Okafor went through, rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home with good composure.

Scunthorpe could also have possibly added one or two more too during a positive display in the second 45.

The coaching staff were impressed with the mentality of the team, and how they reacted to adversity in the match – just like they have in matches over the last two weeks.

United’s Under-18s return to action with an away game at Grimsby Town next Saturday (11am kick-off).

IRON: Kelsey, Baker, Bartholomew, Hornshaw (Okafor 25), Barks (Colclough 70), Harrison, Allasan, Busby (Shrimpton 70), L Collins, Kalu (A Train 80), Pugh.
UNUSED SUBS: T Collins.
