Captain Rory McArdle says it's important to stay positive.
United play host to Rochdale at Glanford Park on Saturday, looking to bounce back from the 2-1 home loss to Shrewsbury last weekend.
United took the lead against the Shrews thanks to a Josh Morris goal early in the first-half, but two second-half strikes from the visitors ensured they went home with all three points.
The centre-back gave his opinions of the game in a post-match interview with iFollow Iron.
ON THE SHREWSBURY MATCH…
RM: We all knew that the game was going to be a tough battle and, as a whole, there wasn’t too much quality. It was more about who stuck it out best. I thought we had some good chances in the game. They took their chances and we didn't quite take ours.
ON THE PERFORMANCE…
RM: In the first-half, I thought we were the better team. They didn’t really create too much. Obviously, we had the penalty and their goalkeeper has made a few good saves. In the second-half, he has made a couple of good saves and one from a free-kick. Even in the second-half, I didn’t think there was too much in it. I don’t think the conditions allowed for anyone to get on top and dominate.
ON THE WEATHER CONDITIONS…
RM: It was not ideal when the snow came down. At some points, it was difficult to see and the referee was asking us how it was. It kept coming and going, which probably helped a little bit, but it is the same for both teams. You have got to get on with it and do the best you can and have a game plan to try to get the three points.
ON MAINTAINING A PLAY-OFF SPOT…
RM: The confidence has been there all season. Performances have shown throughout the majority of the season that we can be in there. At the minute, it is just the fine lines and there are games like Saturday's when there is not much in it. We’re just not quite doing enough on the right side of the game to come away with three points.
ON THE ROCHDALE GAME THIS WEEKEND…
RM: We have just got to keep having that positive mind frame. As disappointed as everybody is. It is important look at what we could potentially do and keep that motivation going. We need to work hard in training and keep just sticking it out.
