Iron players Matt Gilks and Rory McArdle both got involved in the EFL's Community Day of Action as they helped showcase the work of the Futsal scholarship programme.

Goalkeeper Gilks and captain McArdle visited the first year scholars as they continue working towards their NCFE Level Three Extended Diploma in Sport & Physical Activity (Sports Coaching) with Futsal.

It comes just weeks after manager Graham Alexander visited a training session at Bottesford Sports Hall.

Over the course of the two-years, the scholars study for a diploma, which is worth up to three A-Levels, while also representing the club in the EFL Trust Futsal League, along with other cup competitions throughout the course of the season.

The SUFC Trust offer a number of courses and opportunities to learn with Scunthorpe United CSET including a "Foundation Degree in Community Football Coaching and Development" and "BSc Football Coaching, Development and Administration".
