Getting to Oxford United

29 March 2018

Scunthorpe are on their travels to the Kassam Stadium on Good Friday as the Iron take on Oxford United.

Here is our travel guide ahead of the game:

Getting there...
From Glanford Park, take the A18/Doncaster Road onto the M181 heading towards the Humber Bridge/Doncaster/M180. After two miles, merge onto the M180 before taking the exit onto the M18 towards the M1/Doncaster approximately 12 miles later.

Having travelled a further 20 miles, merge onto the M1 where you will stay for just over 90 more miles prior to exiting onto the A43 at junction 15A and merging before going through one roundabout. At the second roundabout take the second exit to stay on the A43, then go through a total of nine further roundabouts.

Around 23 miles of driving later, take the second exit on a roundabout onto the M40 ramp to London/Oxford/Newbury and merge onto the M40. At junction 9, take the A41/A34 exit to Bicester/Aylesbury/Oxford/Newbury. As you come to a roundabout, take the third exit onto the A34 before taking the exit toward Cowley/Henley.

At the next roundabout take the first exit towards the Southern Bypass Road, before taking the second exit at a second roundabout heading onto the Southern Bypass Road/A423. Next, make a slight right onto Heyford Hill Roundabout prior to a slight left onto the A4074.

Next, take the exit toward B480/Cowley/Wattington/Stanford/Littlemore and then leave at the first exit of the following roundabout onto Grenoble Road. Upon reaching the next roundabout, take the second exit to stay on Grenoble Road before going through two more roundabouts.

At the final roundabout, take the first exit onto Guelder Road to arrive at the Kassam Stadium.

For your information...
Due to the location of the stadium, there are a limited number of pubs and eating establishments within walking distance, although a Holiday Inn Express Hotel situated near the South Stand has a reasonably sized bar fitted with Sky television and welcomes football supporters. In addition to this, a cinema and bowling alley complex adjacent to the stadium also has Sky television and a fast food outlet on offer. Aside from these, refreshments are also on offer from within the ground itself.

Train...
Train journey details can be accessed by clicking here (Scunthorpe - Sheffield - Oxford), which takes short of four hours. Oxford Railway Station is over four miles from the ground. You can get the Oxford Bus Company Service, Number 5, from Oxford Railway Station (use bus stop R2) via the city centre to Knights Road in Blackbird Leys, which is a short walk away from the ground. Journey time to the stadium is around 30 minutes.

Parking...
The stadium has spaces for around 2,000 cars at each game, with parking free of charge and offered on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. For big games the main car park can get full before kick-off, although there is generally still space in the overflow parking at the back of the Vue Cinema just past the club shop.
