Central defender Cameron Burgess believes the play-off spots are still in the Iron’s hands, as they face Rochdale this weekend.

Burgess is still high of confidence entering the remaining eight games for the season.

He spoke to iFollow Iron ahead of the game this weekend.

ON TRAINING THIS WEEK…
CB: We have tried to shore up a few things. Training has been lively and everyone is raring to go.

ON GOALS CONCEDED…
CB: I think we have been unlucky with some goals. Sometimes you come off the pitch quite frustrated because we’ve had large spells in the game where we have dominated and could have beaten other teams. Deflected goals have also gone in, but results are results and we have got to make them better. When you turn around and they’ve gone in the back of the net, it is a bit hard to take, especially because we haven’t conceded a lot of chances. Teams have scored quite a few goals based on those low number of chances, but we need to look at the positives and try to shore up on the negatives.

ON ROCHDALE…
CB: They are in a different situation (to Shrewsbury), but it is still just as dangerous when you play teams that are down there. They are fighting for their lives so they will be on it. We will have to match them because we have got something to fight for as well.

ON ROCHDALE’S FORM…
CB: That just shows that they are fighting for something to try and stay in the league. That shows in their form. In this league, anyone can beat anyone on their day. When they are in good form they are going to try and carry that on. We have to match it and try to get the result.

ON IMPROVING FROM LAST SATURDAY…
CB: Building from last week, we need to be a bit more ruthless at both ends. That is what we have talked about and that is the aim. Hopefully the results will come.

ON THE PLAY-OFFS…
CB: It is in our own hands. We have just got to out there and show it. We have shown it for large parts of the season. If we get back to winning ways, we will be fine again.
