Thanks to British Steel

14 June 2018

Scunthorpe United would like to thank British Steel for their sponsorship of the club following the conclusion of their sponsorship agreement at the end of the 2017/18 season.

British Steel began their association as the Iron’s front of shirt sponsors in the 2016/17 season, shortly after the new business was launched.

The re-birth of British Steel has brought positivity and excitement to the town and the club are pleased to have had the company on the front of our first team shirts during the infancy of this important phase.

British Steel Deputy Chief Executive Officer Paul Martin said: “We’ve taken great pride in supporting Scunthorpe United Football Club following the launch of our new brand in 2016.”

During the two season spell that British Steel have been the main club partners of Scunthorpe United, the team successfully negotiated their way to the end of season play-offs on both occasions.

Paul Martin also said: “Among the many highlights during the two-year partnership were our British Steel Family Days and the work we’ve done to jointly generate thousands of pounds for our Community Partner Lindsey Lodge Hospice. Only last month our apprentices and engineers raised nearly £700 for the charity with a match at the Glanford Park ground in memory of lost friends and colleagues.”

He added: “We wish the club every success as they move forward with new partners.”

As the Iron continue their preparations for the 2018/19 season, we will announce our new front of shirt sponsors shortly. The club will also be revealing news about our back of shirt sponsors and our short sponsors for the forthcoming season in due course.

On the partnership with British Steel, Iron Chief Executive Officer James Rodwell said: “We have very much enjoyed having British Steel on the front of our first team shirts for the past two seasons. We are pleased to have played our part in the re-emergence of the brand within the town.”

He added: “We would like to thank British Steel Deputy CEO Paul Martin and everyone associated with the company for their support of the football club during this time and hope the company can continue to go from strength to strength. We also look forward to continuing to work with British Steel as a business next season and beyond.”

“There will be a new front of shirt sponsor for 2018/19, which will be another company who play a significant role within the town. This underlines our commitment to working closely with businesses within the local community. We will be announcing this exciting sponsorship deal very shortly,” he concluded.
