Players to return for pre-season training tomorrow

26 June 2018

The Iron players will be back in the building on Wednesday, June 27th as preparations get underway for the 2018-19 season.

Just short of a week since the fixtures for the new campaign were released, it is full steam ahead for Nick Daws and his team as intense pre-season work gets underway.

The coaching staff returned to the club on Monday in preparation for the players returning to Glanford Park on the Wednesday. The side will then have six weeks to prepare for the big kick-off in Sky Bet League One on Saturday, August 4th.

United will kick off their pre-season friendlies on Saturday, July 7th with a trip to Winterton Rangers before visiting Alfreton six days later. The side will then spend a week in Austria, playing two games, before facing Nottingham Forest and Lincoln City at Glanford Park on Wednesday, July 25th and Saturday, July 28th, respectively.

Manager Nick Daws is looking forward to getting his side back in the building following the break: “We obviously had a shorter ‘off season’ than most of the teams in the league, with the exception of the other play-off semi-finalists. Working with the group of players is the thing I enjoy most, and we can’t wait to get going.”
