Midfielder Funso Ojo is pleased the Iron’s latest chance to earn three points has come around so quickly following the result against Gillingham at the weekend.
Having played in two of the three previous encounters against Rovers so far this season, the 26-year-old is keen to emulate the reverse league fixture at the Keepmoat Stadium, where the Iron won 1-0.
Ojo gave his thoughts to iFollow Iron ahead of the game.
ON THE GILLINGHAM GAME BEING UNCHARACTERISTIC…
FO: I was more disappointed in the performance than the result. We can lose a game, but we can’t lose a game like that. I wasn’t happy with that. I saw the game back on Sunday and I looked at what I could have done differently and what we could have done differently as a team. I saw a lack of a lot of things in the game and that’s not something we want as Scunthorpe players. It was uncharacteristic and it wasn’t good enough.
ON REACTING QUICKLY…
FO: If the next game had been Saturday, we would have the whole week to think about the last game and that’s something I don’t want. Doncaster is a good opponent and I’m happy we have them at home so we can show our fans that Saturday was an (isolated) incident. I’m not going to say that we won’t lose another game between now and the end of the season, but we can’t lose them like on Saturday. We’re going for the win against Donny and we’re going to do what we normally do - fight for each other, pass the ball and I hope this will be the game where we score some goals.
ON THE PREVIOUS ENCOUNTERS…
FO: They beat us in the FA Cup, but we weren’t 100 per cent in that game. Now, we have this game as a redemption from Saturday, we will be at it 100 per cent and if we are, there’s no stopping us. We need to remind ourselves about how we felt after the game on Saturday and use that to make sure we don’t feel like that again.
