The 22-year-old arrived from Barnsley until the end of the season on Thursday afternoon to become our first addition of the January transfer window, and the midfielder arrives with good pedigree.

He’s scored 32 goals in 100 career starts and told iFollow Iron all about the move and his ambitions.

ON THE LOAN SWITCH…
CM:
I’m really looking forward to it. In terms of first team football, I’ve played ten games for Barnsley in the Championship this season, so I’m looking to come here and join with the promotion push. I’ve had a really good chat with the manager (Graham Alexander) and can’t wait to get started playing here and do as well as I can. I just need to play well now and get back to enjoying it and scoring goals. I feel here is a good place for me to do that.

ON HIS PROLIFIC SPELL AT LUTON…
CM:
Luton was a great time for me. The manager Nathan Jones was good with me and he’s similar to the manager here, so I’m looking forward to getting to grips with it and seeing how it all works.

ON HIS AIMS…
CM:
My main aim is to help the team continue what it’s doing and push on into those top two spaces. I want to get promotion here. It would be an amazing achievement for the club. I’ve come here to play every week and to score goals, so it should all go hand-in-hand. We want to get into those top two spaces as quickly as we can and stay there. It would be nice to get promoted automatically, although the play-offs are still there too if needed. We’ll take every game as it comes and work hard as a team.

ON HIS STYLE…
CM:
I’m a box-to-box goalscoring midfielder. My game is all about goals, pushing on and getting in the box. I like to do the other parts well too.

ON HIS CAREER…
CM:
I was lucky that I went to Luton and played a lot of games. Norwich let me go at a time that was good for my development. I obviously had a stint of not playing so much when I broke my leg (in January last year), but I’m back now and have played games in the Championship this season. I’m looking forward to more games and more experience here, and it’s another chapter in my career hopefully helping this club get up.

ON THE POTENTIAL OF PLAYING FOR NORTHERN IRELAND…
CM:
I’ve been told it’s there for me. They have a new campaign up and running and I’ve been speaking to (Northern Ireland manager) Michael O’Neill quite a lot, so potentially there might be something there. The captain here (Rory McArdle) plays for Northern Ireland as well, so it’s certainly something I’m looking at as well.
