19 January 2018

A big welcome to all local junior football teams who are attending our Grassroots Day on Saturday, with more than 1,000 tickets sold in the AMS Stand ahead of the game.

FREE tickets for local junior football clubs this Saturday

18 January 2018

Following the success of last season’s event when we hosted Fleetwood Town, we announced another Grassroots Day offer. We have again seen a large amount of interest from local junior football clubs around the town and the surrounding villages.

The AMS Stand isn't housing the visiting Gillingham supporters this Saturday afternoon, but instead is welcoming around 70 local junior football clubs through the turnstiles at Glanford Park.

For only the second time in four years, the Iron will be supported from all four stands of Glanford Park.

Outside the stadium, from 12.30pm, we have an inflatable football shoot-out goal and giant puzzle games with prizes to be won. These will be located opposite the Iron Bar.

A big thank you to the SUFC Trust for supporting the club with our Grassroots Day event and assisting with the pre-match activities taking place outside Glanford Park.

The Iron are welcoming teams from Under-5s right the way through to Under-17s on Saturday, with teams that play in the Caparo League, the Jack Kalson League, the Lincolnshire Girls League and other local leagues in Scunthorpe and the surrounding areas all showing us their support against the Gills.

We are welcoming teams, of varying ages, from the following local clubs:

-> Appleby Frodingham
-> Barton Town
-> Bottesford Town
-> Brigg Town
-> Broughton Ravers
-> Burton United
-> Caistor Crusaders
-> Crosby United
-> Crowle
-> Dale Park
-> Epworth
-> Gainsborough Trinity
-> Gunness
-> Immingham
-> Kirton Lindsey
-> Marshalls Sports
-> Messingham
-> Midtown United
-> Park Tigers
-> Scotter
-> Winterton Rangers

Park Tigers Under-7s will be flagbearing the two teams onto the pitch on Saturday afternoon and we hope they enjoy their added incentive. As attendees of this event, all teams will be entered into free prize draws, including the visit of Graham Alexander to one of your training sessions. We will announce the winners of the competitions next week.

A big thank you also to our kit suppliers FBT, who are offering an added prize of a brand-new kit for your football team, to the value of £300 and an added offer to all groups attending.

Remember, you can take advantage of group booking rates once per team throughout the season, or register your interest to be flagbearers as the teams walk out. We have very limited availability remaining for the 2017-18 campaign, but remember the opportunity will be available in future campaigns. Offer price may vary.

Contact james.moody@scunthorpe-united.co.uk for more details or to get involved in any of our initiatives.

Thank you for your support. On behalf of all at Scunthorpe United, we hope all Grassroots Day group bookings enjoy the experience with us and hopefully we will see many of you come again to future Iron fixtures.
