Alexandra enjoys behind-the-scenes experience

3 January 2018

Alexandra Smith and her dad Paul enjoyed a pre-match behind-the-scenes experience ahead of the Iron's home encounter against Southend United.

The duo arrived at Glanford Park to complete their 30th ground visit out of the 92 league clubs, as they got to take a look in usually prohibited areas ahead of the game.

Alex suffers from muscular dystrophy, but refuses to let this prevent her enjoy her love for the game, with many clubs obliging in welcoming her to their stadiums. On receiving the email, the Iron were only too happy to play host as the thirtieth visit of her tour.

The 45-minute tour saw them visit the executive areas of the stadium, while also visiting the media areas, Directors Box and press room before visiting the playing staff's area.

On visiting the home dressing room, the playing staff were more than obliging to sign autographs and pose for photographs with just over 90 minutes remaining until kick-off.

Following the tour, Alex's dad Paul said: "Thank you (to you) and everyone Scunthorpe United for our great day at your superb football club!

"Alex loved the day and a good game and 3 points topped it off. Good luck for the rest of the season and we may bump into each other again during our adventures."
