Wallace looks ahead to Pirates test

22 February 2018

Defender Murray Wallace is expecting another tough encounter when the Iron make the long trip to Bristol Rovers on Saturday afternoon.

In the last game versus Northampton, Wallace scored his first goal of the season and is now hoping to add a few more to his game for the remainder of the campaign.

Previewing the away tie at the Memorial Stadium to iFollow Iron, the Scottish player is aiming to keep a clean sheet.

ON THE 2-2 DRAW AGAINST NORTHAMPTON…

MW: It was a bit disappointing. I felt that we were probably the team on top, had the better chances and conceding the goals that we have done, is frustrating. We did enough to win the game, we just need to cut out the goals that we our conceding at the minute.

ON SCORING HIS FIRST GOAL OF THE SEASON…

MW: I was happy to score. Obviously, it was my first goal of the season. I probably should have been due a few more with the quality of the balls we put in the box. That is something that we need to build on.

ON ADDING MORE GOALS TO HIS GAME…

MW: It is always a bonus. You don’t expect the defenders to be scoring every week. It is nice when we pop up with a goal but I think we just need to concentrate on keeping clean sheets.

ON BRISTOL ROVERS…

MW: They have got a brilliant home record, so it will be a tough game. They are a well-drilled side, hard to break down and I imagine they will be even tougher at home. If we get some clean sheets, I always fancy us to score.

ON WANTING TO KEEP OUT THE OPPOSITION…

MW: The past ten games or so, we have conceded too many goals and easy goals. We pride ourselves on clean sheets so if we cut the goals out, I will always back us to score.

ON THE IRON SUPPORTERS MAKING THE JOURNEY TO BRISTOL…

MW: Fair play to them for coming down. It is a long way to go so hopefully we can get a result for them.
