All of us are working exceptionally hard to be successful and I mean all of us, as in our staff, management, players and all associated with the football club. We are disappointed with the recent results and it is hugely frustrating, as we are in such a good position to kick on. However, we know the last 11 games constitute a mini season, and one we go into knowing we have one of the best squads in recent years.
We understand that we have set the bar high for all our fans by competing consistently at the top of this league and we will continue to push towards a strong finish to this season and the play-offs. With all the results of recent weeks we still find ourselves in a great position and with everything in our own hands, so we must continue to believe we can be successful and I know the players and management feel they can deliver.
It is disappointing to hear the comments of some fans, but I am used to it and it seems to be acceptable to attack the people who have committed a huge amount of time and money to the football club over the past five years. I can say none of these people have come forward to finance the club over these five years, or given their time for free as we have done.
All I will say is look around at similar clubs, clubs who have fallen out of the league, clubs who could go out of existence and tell me if you feel comfortable and safe with me at the helm? I am and remain fully committed to Scunthorpe United Football Club, even to the point of not giving up on a potential move or ground improvement project after we were completely misled by certain parties over the Lakes project. We had a response from the council to my question on whether the project would actually ever happen and the leader said Scotter roadworks would start in January and the Lake would be built, but nothing happens. There desperately needs to be a public enquiry into the Lakes project, and the fact things have not started has to raise questions on the information we were given initially. I will continue to fight for that information to be released and to realise our costs back from that Lakes debacle, but this is public money and as such we all have a right to disclosure.
I continue to work towards the redevelopment of GP and we are just weeks away from a planning application, so I envisage a date for a fans consultation and update, along with a football forum, being confirmed shortly. In the meantime, I include a couple of pictures representing what we would like to do here at GP; something modern and able to provide fantastic facilities for you, the fans and Scunthorpe as a whole.
We need to get behind the team to keep us in the play-offs, we are all part of this journey and together we can make some great memories.
