The encounter at Glanford Park will be his second of the campaign in his 14th season refereeing in the EFL.
The Northamptonshire-based official is already 66% of the way to matching his red card tally from last season after showing two on the opening weekend seven days ago in the encounter between Bury and Yeovil Town. The Glovers were reduced to nine men in the encounter, which they lost 1-0, with Tom James receiving his second caution and Jordan Green receiving a straight red card for serious foul play.
Despite this statistic, his card ratio is generally lower than other officials on the EFL, with him showing 97 yellows and three reds in his 39 games in 2017-18. He also only showed three red in the previous campaign too, along with 119 yellows, in 43 encounters.
He last took charge of the Iron in March at the DW Stadium in the 3-3 draw against eventual Champions of the division Wigan Athletic.
Whitestone's last Saddlers encounter came 364 days ago, ironically on the second weekend of last season, when he oversaw Walsall's 2-1 home victory against Oldham Athletic.
The game will be his 14th competitive Scunthorpe game and his 13th competitive Walsall game as referee.
On Saturday, he will be assisted by Richard Wild and Ian Smedley, while David Plowright will be the fourth official.
