Left-back Cameron Borthwick-Jackson cannot wait for the Sky Bet League One season to start on Saturday.
The Iron travel to the Ricoh Arena to face Coventry City (kick-off 3.00pm), and the Manchester United loanee could make his debut.
He told iFollow Iron: “I can’t wait to get started and I just want to play as many games as I can.
“They will come at us and press straight away, but we will just have to play our game. We have got enough quality to do that.”
The 21-year-old joined Scunthorpe last Saturday and played in the final pre-season match against Lincoln City.
“I felt I did okay against Lincoln, but it was just about getting used to the players, the pace of the game and adapting to the style,” said Borthwick-Jackson.
Following that game, the defender has now benefitted from a full week’s training at Glanford Park ahead of Saturday’s match.
He said: “It is good to get that training in before the first game and to get to know the style of play.
“The boys have been very good to me and have helped me settle in very quickly. I am enjoying training.
“I have had a few games under my belt during pre-season so I am ready to go.”
