Toney was impressed with his side’s attacking play in the first-half of the 1-1 draw.
Speaking to iFollow Iron, the 22-year-old reflected on the game and his goal.
ON THE RESULT…
IT: It is a tough one to take. I thought we created enough chances in the first-half to put the game to bed, but we didn’t manage to do that.
ON THE SECOND-HALF…
IT: Obviously, we knew they were going to come out firing. The lads coped with it well, but, in my eyes, I thought it was a soft penalty that we gave away. We had to carry on in the game, trying to get the win, but we didn’t do that. I’m very disappointed. I thought we did enough in the first-half to win the game, but a game is not finished in 45 minutes.
ON SCORING FOR THE SECOND GAME IN A ROW…
IT: I’m just trying to score for the team and get the club to where they want to be. As long as I contribute with some goals and turn the games into wins, I will be happy.
ON HIS GOAL…
IT: You have just got to anticipate it. I know ‘Haks’ (Hakeeb Adelakun) was going to drill it across it so I just tried to get my body in and around there. Fortunately, I managed to get on the end of it.
ON THE IRON’S ATTACKING PLAY…
IT: We created a lot of chances. On another day, we could have scored three or four. The link-up play was good. Duane (Holmes) was playing off me and we created some good chances. Whether it is one up front or two, I am just trying to do my best for the team.
ON THE PLYMOUTH MATCH ON MONDAY…
IT: We know what we have to do. Plymouth are flying and they are in and around us.
