The Iron’s Under-18 side played really well, but somehow lost 2-0 to Oldham Athletic on Saturday morning.
United conceded from a free-kick against the run of play in the 79th minute, while the second goal was a speculative shot from outside the box.
The performance in the first-half was a particular positive and it was a game Scunthorpe controlled. Iron academy manager Tony Daws was very pleased with the performance from a side containing a number of Under-15s and Under-16s in the side.
Meanwhile, the Iron were 1-0 home victors against Hartlepool United two days earlier, winning through a late Louis Collins goal.
