Following that win, the 26-year-old believes United can beat anyone if they replicate the display that gave Scunthorpe their first victory since early February.

He discussed this, the travelling fans and a certain chance that left him astounded in an interview with iFollow Iron

ON THE TEAM’S PERFORMANCE…
FO: I am very proud of the team’s performance, especially after our run without a win. It was a massive game for us. Now we are right back in it so it was a massive win.

ON GETTING BACK INTO THE PLAY-OFFS…
FO: That’s the most important thing about it. We are back where we want to be, which has given us a massive boost. We just need to keep this feeling, play like we did on Saturday, stick together under pressure and when we have the ball, just play as we play. If we can stay together as a team then we will win. If we can do it against a team as big as Charlton then we have to do it against every other club.

ON GIVING THE FANS MOMENTS LIKE THEIR FIRST WIN AT CHARLTON SINCE 1963…
FO: There were a lot of fans so that was nice, especially when you’re coming into a hostile environment. We got Charlton quiet and our fans were really loud.

ON THE WIN…
FO: It was about time. To say that it was coming is something that we have to say but putting it out there on the pitch is something different. There was a great atmosphere, a great pitch and we stuck together as a team despite being under pressure towards the end. That is one of the most important things.

ON PLAYING ALONGSIDE RYAN YATES…
FO: I like playing with him. He is still a young player so I try and help him with some things on the pitch. Defensively, he is a big help to me. Yatesy had a strong performance alongside me. He was defending really well and recovered a lot of balls so it made it a lot easier for me.

ON IVAN TONEY’S GOAL AND THE DENIAL OF HIS POTENTIAL GOAL OF THE SEASON…
FO: That volley was brilliant. I wanted to go inside and just stop the game. If that would have gone in I would have expected the fans and the opponents to clap for him like they did for (Cristiano) Ronaldo against Juventus. That would have been a magnificent goal.

ON THE CONFIDENCE THAT CAN BE DRAWN AHEAD OF WALSALL…
FO: We can draw a lot from it. Not just because we won, but because of the way that we won it. We just need to keep winning.

ON MAKING GLANFORD PARK A FORTRESS FOR THE COMING HOME GAMES…
FO: I hope that our fans can give the opposition a hostile environment that’s similar to the ones that we have experienced. I would really like our fans to do the same because that would help us on the pitch and help us to get that win.
