United are back at Glanford Park following two away victories and the full-back is happy with how things are going.

He spoke to iFollow Iron ahead of the game against the Seasiders.

ON THE BLACKPOOL GAME…
CT: We know it’s going to be another tough game. They’ve started pretty well, but if we play how we know how to play, then we’re confident of getting a result. They’ve got some good players in the team and they’ve carried on from last year. They are on a high from winning promotion at Wembley, carrying it through into this year. We know it’s going to be a tough game, like it is all the time in League One, it’s never plain sailing. Hopefully we play how we know we can and get a result.

ON THE TEAM SPIRIT…
CT: In the summer there were a few people gone and a few people came in. Some people have written us off in the press, so I think that only helps us and brings us together as a team. We want to prove to people that we’re as good as, if not better, than last year, and we’ve certainly started to show that with the games so far, but there is more to come from us as a team. We’ve had some good results, but performance-wise we can still get better. Everyone spoke about how we started last year and we carried it on right through Christmas, so hopefully we can do that again and keep it going right throughout the season. That’s what we will be looking to do.

"Hopefully we play how we know we can and get a result."

Conor Townsend, defender

ON BEING STRONG AT THE BACK…
CT: We work on the defence a lot. Last year we did have a lot of clean sheets, but we wanted more. If we can keep this run going of clean sheets, unbeaten and the wins, dragging it out for as long as possible, I think we will put ourselves in a good position going forward. It comes down to hard work, we work hard on the training ground, always working on defensive shape. You do take confidence from a clean sheet into the next game.
