Report: Iron Under-18s 2-0 Bradford City Under-18s

30 September 2017

The Iron’s Under-18 side defeated their Bradford City counterparts 2-0 on Saturday morning.

United won through two well-worked goals from Harry Jessop and Miracle Okafor, but the most pleasing aspect was the good performance from the team, which was an improvement on last week - as they dominated the game for a longer period of time and created more chances.

The first goal came on 33 minutes, and Jessop, making his first start for the Under-18s team after a prolific season for the Under-16s so far, netted it.

Louis Collins set him up with a great ball inside, and in a tight area he scored a real striker’s goal as he took the ball from under his feet and bent the ball into the top corner.

The goal came at a good time, as United were on top during that period of the game.

The second goal arrived in the 75th minute, and saw good play from Collins down the left, as he took on a couple of players before crossing the ball for Okafor, who was in a good position to tap the ball home.

Overall, it was an improvement, which is what the youth coaching staff look for every day from the players, and that was the most pleasing aspect of the game.

Team: Riches, Pugh, Bartholomew, Hornshaw, Lilley, Morfoot, Busby (Train, 74), Porter, Collins (Kalu, 79), Jessop (Okafor, 63), Allasan.
