Josh Morris did what he does best on Saturday, as he curled a free-kick straight into the top left corner to help win a tough three points against Bury at Gigg Lane.

The 25-year-old was impressed by the character shown by the team to stick it out against a physical Shakers side, while maintaining belief they could be victorious.

The midfielder gave his opinion on the result, the goal, the new signings and more in an interview with iFollow Iron

ON THE GOAL…
JM:
I was just about to get the shot off when I was through and got tripped up so as soon as I went down I wanted the ball. I’ve been practicing them and luckily it went in. You never know about these situations and the pressure was on because it was late in the game but you’ve just got to trust your technique, practice and hard work.

ON NETTING AGAIN AT BURY…
JM:
It was the exact same corner as last season, I cut in on the right and bent that one into the top corner. To get the win and the three points here is a massive result.

ON HIS ASSESSMENT OF THE GAME…
JM:
It was very tough. You know what you’re going to get when you come here. They are a very physical team, no matter what side they put out. However, I think the quality that we had shone through. It’s early in the season, a good start for us and a good three points.

ON THEIR SEASON AMBITIONS…
JM:
You’re going to get tough games and just like at Plymouth we kicked on in the times that were most vital. You’re going to get tough periods in the game and that’s why we have the characters in the dressing room that can stick together and get through those times. Hopefully then, we can nick a goal like we did.

ON THE TEAM’S PERFORMANCE…
JM:
I can’t single out anyone because everyone has done their bit. I think that Rory McArdle’s block on the line was outstanding and kept us in the game until the end. It’s a big team effort with good team spirit and everyone was pushing for the same thing. Therefore, it makes the win even better for us.

ON NEW ADDITIONS LEE NOVAK AND ANDREW CROFTS…
JM:
They trained with us on Friday and they came in late on Thursday. They seem like good lads and I’m sure that they will be. It’s a good group to come into. We’re quite easygoing and while we have a good laugh we work hard at the same time. I’m looking forward to working with them.

ON THE ADDED COMPETITION…
JM:
It’s a long season. There’s no transfer window until January and so we need a big squad. We will be playing games on Saturday, Tuesday and Saturday, which is a lot in League One and so we need players that have played in this league and know what they’re doing. It’s a good boost for us.

ON CONTINUING HIS FORM…
JM:
It’s the same as when I wasn’t scoring as many. It’s the win that matters to me. For me to get the goals again is nice, but it’s the win that’s more important.

ON STAYING FOCUSED AHEAD OF BLACKPOOL…
JM:
It’s only early September, so we won’t get carried away. We know what we did last year, so we know that we can’t get carried away. We’ve got the players, experience and the staff behind the scenes that have been there and done it so we won’t be able to get carried away. We’ll be on it.
