20-year-old midfielder Clayton Lewis is looking forward to a possible debut for United in their Checkatrade Trophy away clash against Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday night.
The New Zealand international has featured on the substitutes’ bench but is yet to appear for Scunthorpe following his arrival earlier this month.
The ex-Auckland City man has worked hard on his fitness and adapting to the English game in training, and told iFollow Iron he is looking forward to showing what he can do at the Keepmoat Stadium this week.
ON THE CHANCE OF HIS DEBUT…
CL: I’ve been waiting for my moment and getting extra fitness work in, so I’m really looking forward to Tuesday night and hopefully I can get some minutes. I’m fitter than I was when I arrived so it will hopefully be my first game for this club, and I can’t wait to play more times with these guys. Hopefully I can show what I do – set up and score a few goals. We’re both through (to the next round) but I’m going to put in 100 per cent and do what I can do to prove myself to the gaffer and everyone around here. It might not be the biggest crowd but everyone will be 100 per cent into their tackles and challenges, and I’m really looking forward to it.

ON HOW HIS FIRST MONTH HAS GONE…
CL: It’s been really good so far, all the boys have been very welcoming. Everyone around me has been very positive about everything I’m doing, and pushing me hard.
ON THE DIFFERENCES HE’S NOTICED IN ENGLAND…
CL: It’s a lot faster, the transition to attack is a lot quicker, but that’s what I strive to do and hopefully I can create many opportunities for myself and my team mates. We’re getting there even more now. I’m seeing it all a lot clearer. There are certain things I need to work on but I believe I’m adapting well to things and it will improve my game.
ON MAINTAINING RECENT FORM…
CL: We’ve managed to win the last couple of games and hopefully if we can continue the way we’re playing then we can get more wins under our belts and stay up at the top end of the table.
