Opening scorer Tom Hopper was delighted with his goal and the three points after beating Oldham Athletic 3-2.

Hopper netted the game’s first goal and was thrilled to get back onto the scoresheet following a short spell on the sidelines through injury.

After the game, the striker gave his reaction to the 90 minutes and his strike to iFollow Iron.

ON THE 3-2 WIN…
TH: Obviously we are delighted with the win. We made it harder than we should have for ourselves. At 2-0 up we were comfortable and in real control of the game after the first 30 minutes. We showed good character to win it, when we got pegged back to 2-2 and to come back to get a third. We’re pleased with the character shown, but disappointed in the manner of the two goals we conceded from set-pieces, on stuff we have worked on. Again, we’ve got lots to work on, but we go back now and work hard. We’re pleased with all the three points.

ON GETTING TWO QUICK GOALS…
TH: We said in the changing room that we got off to such a great start in the first 30 minutes. We were really pleased with how we were going. Maybe we took a foot off and we should have kicked on and kept them under pressure, which we didn't do and let them back into the game. We showed good character to come back and get a third goal.

ON HIS OPENING GOAL…
TH: It was nice to score again, especially for it to pop out to me like it did and as a striker, there are the ones you like. You have to get yourself in those sorts of positions. I was pleased to get a goal and was disappointed not to be awarded a penalty later on, but that happens. Luckily, we’re not ruing that decision because we’ve come away with three points.

ON RETURNING TO THE TEAM…
TH: I felt like I was starting to play some really good football before my little injury, but I recovered quite quickly from that. It was nice to get back out there and amongst the goals.

ON TEAM MORALE…
TH: The music has been on in the changing room. The lads are buzzing and we need to reflect on the game, making sure we kick on in the next game.

ON TUESDAY’S CHECKATRADE TROPHY GAME AGAINST DONCASTER…
TH: No footballer likes a rest, especially as a striker. It’s a chance to go out there and showcase what you can do. Hopefully I can get another couple of goals. It’s another football match and we want to win every game we can. It builds confidence within the squad.

ON A POTENTIAL FA CUP RUN…
TH: Any team would love a cup run. It can benefit you in the league. It brings confidence, creates a good atmosphere around the place and we will set out to win every game.
