Debutant Andrew Crofts admits he was disappointed not to get anything from the Rotherham game, despite putting in a good performance.
However, the midfielder, who started his first match for the club since joining on transfer deadline day this summer, was delighted that he finally got to put the Scunthorpe shirt on after an injury setback.
He gave his reaction after the loss and his debut to iFollow Iron after the game.
ON THE 2-0 DEFEAT…
AC: Obviously the boys are gutted to lose the game. I thought as far as the performance goes, we did okay. We were quite pleased with the performance, but it’s the result that matters. If we keep playing like that then the results will come. I think we had a lot of chances but we just couldn’t take them on the day.
ON CHANCES BEING CREATED…
AC: We worked a lot in the week on our play. I think we played some good football and another day, we score two or three. Paddy (Madden) has come close with a header and I probably should have scored with my header as well. Josh (Morris) got into some good positions and Conor (Townsend) has hit the post. There were some real good opportunities and, at the end, the left-back has made a good block, so we were getting in the right areas. We just couldn’t convert on Saturday.
ON MAKING HIS DEBUT…
AC: It was great to be out there. I’ve been desperate to get out on the pitch and the more I play, the more sharp and match fit I will get. It was great to get out there with the boys, it’s been a long time coming. I can’t wait to get out there again.
ON KEEPING HIS PLACE IN THE SIDE…
AC: If you get a run in the team and a run of games, that’s when you see the best in players. It was nice to get out there and hopefully I can have an impact on the team.
ON HOW THE IRON CAN BOUNCE BACK…
AC: If you look around the changing room we’ve got more than enough to challenge. I’ve been impressed with the squad, we’ve got some really good players. It’s just about turning that performance on Saturday into wins - I think the results will come. Last week, the performance wasn’t there, but the gaffer said it was on the day.
ON THE IRON FANS…
AC: The fans were wicked on the day. To see so many, it was great and they made a lot of noise. I thought they were brilliant and it’s just a shame we couldn’t send them home with three points.
