The 19-year-old has started the last four games for the Iron and feels he has been getting a lot fitter in the meantime.

Speaking to iFollow Iron, Butroid discussed the recent games, how he has settled into the side and looked ahead to this weekend’s game against Wigan Athletic.

ON PLAYING AGAINST GRIMSBY…
LB: We were disappointed after Saturday, but the cup competition (Checkatrade Trophy clash against Grimsby in midweek) gave us a chance to get back to winning ways as quickly as possible. Hopefully we can have a good couple of days of training now before the weekend and then carry the form, especially in the second-half with the way we played, into Saturday.

ON WIGAN ATHLETIC…
LB: They are a good team, they’re doing well at the minute, just like Shrewsbury were, but we’re at home. It doesn’t really matter if we’re home or away, but the support obviously makes a difference and hopefully we will be up there and at it on Saturday to get three points.

ON HIS FITNESS…
LB: I feel good. I feel fit now after getting a few games under my belt. I started to feel quite tired after the first couple, but I’m starting to feel a lot fitter now.

"I need to push myself to keep in the team. I feel I’ve done okay and I need to keep doing that to stay in the team."

ON HIS RUN OF GAMES IN THE SIDE…
LB: I feel I’ve done well. When Conor Townsend is fit again, I need to push myself to keep in the team. I feel I’ve done okay and I need to keep doing that to stay in the team. There’s obviously a healthy competition for places here.

ON HIS LEAGUE DEBUT AGAINST PORTSMOUTH…
LB: I was really happy, but it was a good team performance more than anything. Portsmouth are a good side and we made them look average on the day. I was really pleased to get that victory.

ON WHAT THE MANAGER HAS SAID…
LB: He hasn’t said anything really. If they make a big deal out of my first few games, it would put me on edge a bit, so I think they’ve handled it really well. They’ve not really said anything, kept it normal and everything has been the same as it has been, which I prefer.

ON THE HELP FROM CONOR TOWNSEND…
LB: He’s been a massive help, especially in training. A lot of the time, early in the season, I picked up stuff without him even having to tell me and it’s helped me a lot.
