The Iron will be holding a short remembrance service ahead of kick-off against Bristol Rovers on Saturday.
The game falls on Armistice Day, November 11th - the date when hostilities formally ended after more than four years of battle during World War I.
The club are pleased to be able to welcome members of the armed forces, veterans and volunteers of the Royal British Legion to the match this weekend.
Attending the game are the following:
Ken Lloyd – President of the Royal British Legion, Scunthorpe branch
Thomas Blacklock – Colour Sergeant in the Royal Marines, 43 Commando Unit
Commander (SCC) Keith Bingham RNR
Flight Lieutenant James Todd - Officer Commanding 119 Scunthorpe Squadron
Mr Gary Barker - Squadron Chairman
Sergeant Steve Barker
Cadet Sargent Matthew Henton - Bugle Player
Cadet Corporal Lewis Beighton, Cadet Teri Pell and Cadet Nathan Vipurs - Banner Party
Volunteers will be conducting a bucket collection for the Poppy Appeal, so please give generously as always.
The short service will be succeeded with a minute’s silence prior to the game getting underway, as we pay our respects to the servicemen and women who have fallen in conflict.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them
When you go home tell them of us and say
For your tomorrow we gave our today
Lest We Forget.
