United drew 0-0 in the original FA Cup first round tie, setting up the replay on Tuesday night, but will be buoyed by the 94th minute winner against Bristol Rovers in the league on Saturday.

The 29-year-old, who provided the assist for Neal Bishop’s winner, gave his pre-match thoughts to iFollow Iron.

ON BEATING BRISTOL ROVERS AND THE LATE GOAL
LN: It was a big three points and we needed that. It came with nearly the last kick of the game and a great header by Bish, but we maybe had a few chances before that to make it a bit easier for ourselves. We kept going and for us the celebrations and the fact that Bristol Rovers’ players were lying on the floor showed how hard they had worked to contain us. Teams are coming and trying to frustrate us and Bristol did a good job at doing that. They had a game plan and the referee was right onto them from the first five minutes as they were slowing the game down. That was their tactic and it nearly got them a point, but that added on time was when we got the winner.

ON HIS ASSIST…
LN: I just thought I’d put it in an area where I would like the ball, we had a lot of bodies up and Bish managed to get his head on it.

"It wasn’t a classic cup tie, but we’re still in the hat and we want to win."

ON THE ORIGINAL TIE…
LN: It wasn’t a classic cup tie, but we’re still in the hat and we want to win. If it takes until the 95th minute, like it did on Saturday, then we will go to the 95th minute. But if we can get that early goal, Northampton will have to open up with them being the away team and then hopefully we can then play our football. We have to look at the positives and one is we’re still in the tie. We’re back at home now for this game and we want to get through in 90 minutes.

ON FACING NORTHAMPTON…
LN: This game will be the second of three against them in two weeks. It’s going to be a guessing game what they’re going to do, but we just look at ourselves and we’re confident that we can break any team down. It’s about momentum and it doesn’t matter what competition it is in. If we keep winning, it’ll breed confidence and we’ll take that late win on Saturday into Tuesday.

ON EXPERIENCES IN THE FA CUP…
LN: I’ve got a good goalscoring record in the competition. You always watch the competition as a kid and dream about playing in it and to get the chance to play in it is a great job to have. On a personal level, the best moments are playing against the big teams. I remember Scunthorpe playing against Chelsea and a few years ago, when I was at Huddersfield Town, we played against Arsenal and it was a great occasion, so hopefully we can do that again.
