Clarke, who joined in 2015, has been a regular starter in the Scunthorpe side and recognises his achievement in a strong squad.

In his pre-match interview with iFollow Iron, the defender also spoke about this weekend’s match as well as wanting another cup run.

ON THE CHECKATRADE TROPHY GAME AT DONCASTER DURING THE WEEK…
JC: Every game is a chance to perform and an opportunity to impress the manager. That is how I took it and that’s how all the lads that played took it. Obviously, a lot of the players that did play haven’t had a lot of game time, so it’s a case of match fitness. It’s also a chance to get to Wembley. We were already qualified, but we definitely took it seriously.

ON POTENTIALLY MAKING HIS 100TH START FOR THE IRON…
JC: I didn’t actually know that, but it’s a good achievement to reach. I’m really pleased to be doing that with Scunthorpe. In the past, I have made a lot of appearances when I was growing up, but they were here and there, and now it’s good to be a consistent player in a squad like this.

ON NORTHAMPTON TOWN…
JC: They’ve got a recently-appointed manager and their form has taken a better turn, so I’m sure it’s going to be a really tough test. I expect them to come out all guns blazing.

ON THE FA CUP…
JC: The cup is always different, especially the FA Cup, compared to the league or any other cup. We can get a good gauge on them, but at the same time it’s a completely different feel.

ON HAVING A BREAK FROM LEAGUE ACTION…
JC: Sometimes it can be a distraction, but other times it can be a welcome distraction. It’s about getting the balance between that. I don’t mind either way if it’s the league or cup, but the FA Cup is always good to be involved in.

ON WANTING ANOTHER CUP RUN…
JC: We would obviously like to progress through the rounds and get another big team to play against, like we did two seasons ago. That’s the aim and that’s what we want to do for ourselves.
