The Iron face Northampton Town again at the weekend and defender Cameron Burgess is expecting their style of play to be the same, despite making numerous changes for the FA Cup encounter during the week.
Burgess has started the last five games for United and admits he has loved being involved, especially after keeping three clean sheets on the bounce.
Ahead of the Northampton Sky Bet League One game on Saturday, the 22-year-old spoke to iFollow Iron about the game, the FA Cup and his spell in the side.
ON THE EMIRATES FA CUP WIN DURING THE WEEK…
CB: It was a cup game so it was all about the result and we got it. I think we showed that we can play good football and took the game to them. I was really happy with the result.
ON PLAYING DONCASTER IN THE NEXT ROUND…
CB: We’ve played against them a couple of times already. There will be a lot of fans there and a big atmosphere. Hopefully we can get the result there as well.
"We’ve got to approach it the exact same way and go and get another good result."
ON THE FA CUP…
CB: It’s a massive competition. Everyone loves playing in the FA Cup and everyone can see that. You want to go as far as you can and hopefully play against one of the big teams and create loads of good memories.
ON COMING UP AGAINST NORTHAMPTON AGAIN ON SATURDAY…
CB: It’s a bit of a weird one and it always seems to happen that way sometimes. We know what they can do and maybe they know what we can do.
ON THE ALTERATIONS MADE BY THE COBBLERS…
CB: I think it doesn’t really matter about the personnel. There will probably be one or two changes. We’ve got to approach it the exact same way and go and get another good result.
ON KEEPING THREE CLEAN SHEETS IN A ROW…
CB: The main thing from my point of view is to first and foremost get the clean sheet because that guarantees a least a point. Then hopefully we can create chances as a team and have a go at the other end. It makes it a lot easier when you keep a clean sheet.
ON HAVING A RUN IN THE STARTING ELEVEN…
CB: I have loved it. You miss it a lot more when you’re not playing. It’s amazing just to be out there playing games week in week out and that’s the best feeling being a footballer. Hopefully keeping clean sheets supports that. These guys coming back from injury or international duty means it’s been a chance for some lads to play games and hopefully we’ve all done enough to keep our spots in the team. I know they will be raring to go and get back into the team as well. It’s good competition and a good time to have it.
