Local junior football side Appleby Frodingham Saints U7s enjoyed a behind-the-scenes pre-match experience ahead of Saturday's 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic.

Eight players in the side, along with the two coaches and parents, were able to gain access to the otherwise restricted areas of the stadium.

The 45-minute long tour saw the group visit the playing staff areas of the stadium. Beginning with the after match press room, the junior side were also allowed access into the boot room, where they picked their favourite designs, before meeting the players who wear them.

The final stop was to the home dressing room with kick-off against Charlton Athletic less than two hours away. The players took time pose for photographs and to sign autographs in that time before the tour came to an end.

Further to that, the side were able to be a part of the pre-match build-up, flag bearing both sets of teams onto the pitch prior to kick-off before witnessing two superb strikes from Josh Morris which saw the Iron claim all three points.

We now have very limited availability remaining for flag bearing in the 2017-18 campaign. If you'd like to get your local grassroots side involved, please email james.moody@scunthorpe-united.co.uk.

Following the visit, the team's coaches Danny Heron said: "Thank you James Moody and all the staff and players at Scunthorpe United for your warm hospitality. Our little team certainly enjoyed it. (There are) so many great photos. What an amazing day. Great memories made and just the start of this little journey we're going on as a team together!"

Meanwhile Fiona Harris, one of the player's parents said: "Thank you James Moody for organising yet another great day at Glanford Park."
