Burdett ready to kick on next season

25 May 2017

Forward Noel Burdett is delighted to have signed a new contract with the Iron, taking him into his second season as a professional.

The 19-year-old has signed a one-year deal with a further 12 months in the club's favour.

We got the thoughts of Burdett shortly after penning his new deal, as he spoke to iFollow Iron.

ON HIS NEW CONTRACT...
"Obviously I'm delighted. It's good to get another year. After completing my first year as a professional, I now know the ins and outs, what the gaffer wants and the way the lads are. Now it's up to me to kick on and push myself towards the squad."

REFLECTING ON HIS FIRST YEAR AS A PROFESSIONAL...
"My first loan spell at Frickley was really good. I scored a few goals, I was enjoying it and it was good to be playing. The step-up a league to Gainsborough was good as well and I believe I did okay. I then went back to Frickley and it was good to get game time and play every week. The staff here are brilliant. The gaffer is really positive and the coaches are always helping and giving advice."

ON THE STEP UP FROM ACADEMY FOOTBALL...
"It's tough and it's a big step. It took me a few months and a few injuries to get used to it. Now I'm used to it and I know what to expect for pre-season, so hopefully I can knuckle down and push into the team. You've got to really look after yourself and it's all about professionalism. It's a strong squad and there's a lot of work to be done, but I'm willing to do it."
