Alexander receives April nomination

3 May 2017

Iron manager Graham Alexander has been nominated for the Sky Bet League One manager of the month accolade for April.

It’s the United boss’ fifth nomination of the campaign after being included in the shortlist for August, October and January while emerging victorious in November. It’s his sixth nomination overall since taking charge of the club last March after also scooping the award in April of last season.

The nomination comes following an string of five league wins in a row throughout the month, with just one defeat to commence the month.

Also nominated are Stuart McCall of Bradford City, Fleetwood Town’s Uwe Rosler and the Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder.

The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.

Here's what they had to say about each manager:

Graham Alexander (Scunthorpe United)
Ended the regular season just as his side began it, with a series of dominant displays and a manager of the month nomination. Five wins out of six did the trick with the Iron clinching third place and a spot in the play-offs as a result.

Stuart McCall (Bradford City)
Guided his side to a haul of 13 points from six games in a month in which Bradford secured their spot in the play-offs. Kept his side superbly focused, especially at home where they collected three wins without conceding a goal.

Uwe Rosler (Fleetwood Town)
Secured a League One play-off place for the first time in the club’s history with a hectic April record of 13 points from seven games. Preaches consistency in performance, something his side maintained in the season’s final month.

Chris Wilder (Sheffield United)
When a side clinches promotion early, they sometimes relax too much. Wilder refused to allow it to happen, setting his title-winning players the target of 100 points. They reached it by winning all six of their April fixtures with a 16-3 goal differential.

The winners will be announced on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 6am.
