Duane Holmes believes it’s important to “bounce back” with three points from this weekend’s clash against Fleetwood Town at Glanford Park.
Holmes additionally doesn’t see any benefit in dwelling on recent results and, with 12 crucial matches left to play in Sky Bet League One, the former Huddersfield Town man is only looking forward.
Holmes told The Iron PlayerHD: “We’re looking to bounce back on Saturday.
“Everyone is going to go through one (a difficult period) at some point during the season, and it’s how you come out the other side of it.
“We always want to be playing at home, because up until recently we’ve been really good here, and scored a lot of goals.
“Hopefully we can get back to what was getting us those results.”
Saturday’s encounter sees two of the league’s highest placed sides meet, but no matter who the opposition, Holmes wants nothing but a victory.
“They’re a good side on a great run,” he stated.
“It was a difficult game when we played them earlier on in the season, but we just want to get back on the pitch and put everything right that’s been happening.
“We’ll put all of those results behind us and look forward to Saturday now.”
Speaking from a personal standpoint, the American says he’s revelling in being a part of Scunthorpe’s promotion push.
Holmes explained to be playing on a consistent basis is excellent for his development as a player, and he’s optimistic for the exciting times which lie ahead.
“I’m of course enjoying it,” declared Holmes.
“I had a little part where I wasn’t in the side, but like I always say, it’s about the team, and as long as the team is picking up results I don’t mind who is playing.
“It’s my first real season in senior football, so to be up there challenging for promotion and having all this excitement is really good for me personally.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing what we can do towards the end of the season.”
