Kyle Wootton spoke to iFollow Iron after signing his new two-year contract with the club.
The 20-year-old scored two goals in the 6-0 friendly win against North Ferriby United and he’s looking to carry on that form heading into the new campaign.
Wootton has been with the club since he was 10 and is seeking to make the step-up and become a first team regular this term.
ON SIGNING THE DEAL…
KW: It’s a great time to sign. I’ve really enjoyed the trip out here, as have the other lads. We’ve all been getting fit and thriving on it. I’m happy it’s all sorted and done, and I’m raring to go. I had a lot to think about but now the aim is to get in the team, and I think I can fulfil that. From the age of 10 I’ve been here. I’m 20 now and hopefully I can carry it on for years to come by breaking into the first team and keeping it going.

ON WHAT’S AHEAD…
KW: The manager said he just wants me to keep scoring goals. He can’t really say no after that, so that’s my job at the end of the day, keep scoring the goals. There are a lot of good strikers at the club but our job is to stick it in the back of the net and if you’re doing that you can’t really do much more at the end of the day.
ON HOW THE TRAINING TRIP TO AUSTRIA HAS GONE…
KW: All the lads are enjoying it. It’s a great set-up and environment. Training has been tough and always is in pre-season. These are the kind of things you need to do at the start, and hopefully you get your outcome at the end of the season. We’re all doing the right thing. We’re all feeling really fit and it’s getting it in the bank and ready for the start of the season. That’s the most important thing.
