Morris: Bring it on

6 July 2017

United midfielder Josh Morris is excited to get stuck into some match practice.

Speaking in an interview with iFollow Iron ahead of Saturday’s game against North Ferriby United, the winger spoke of his excitement to start playing football again.

Morris scored 20 goals in all competitions last season, and is seeking to build on an impressive first campaign in claret and blue.

ON GOING INTO THE PRE-SEASON FIXTURES…
JM: I’m looking forward to it. It’s been a tough week but we would always expect that at this time of the year. We’ve done a lot of fitness-based stuff and a lot of ball work as well, so it’s been double sessions every day and then the gym as well. It’s always tough but we’re used to it by now.

ON THE NEW FACES…
JM: They are good additions I must admit, with Rory [McArdle] and Gilksy [Matt Gilks], who’ve been there and done it. Cameron (Burgess) is a bit younger but again has played a lot of football in our league last year. They’re a good mixture and good lads as well.

ON THE SQUAD’S AMBITIONS…
JM: You always try and better yourself every year, both individually and as a team, so we will just take each game as it comes and see where it takes us.

ON HIS PERSONAL GOALS…
JM: Personally for me I’m just going to try and do it again. The best players in the world do it year in year out and I’ve got to be able to do it again. I’ve got to put in a lot of hard work and dedication, and hopefully we can have a good start as a team which always helps.

ON HOW HE’S FEELING GOING INTO NORTH FERRIBY…
JM: I’m looking forward to it. We’ve had a long week really. I will have been ten days that we’ve been in and it’s been a lot of fitness based stuff so it’s nice to have a game at the end of it.

ON GETTING INTO THE LEAGUE GAMES…
JM: Obviously pre-season is always the same. It’s always a long one but it stands us in good stead for the season, so bring it on. I’m feeling good, I’ve had a good break and recharged the batteries so I’m ready to go again.
