CAN'T WAIT FOR THE RETURN TO ACTION

27 January 2017

Previewing Saturday’s home fixture with Port Vale, defender Harry Toffolo says it’ll be good to get back on home turf once again.

It’s United’s first match at Glanford Park for three weeks, and the full back feels if United perform to the levels they have throughout the current campaign against the Valiants, then the result should be a positive one.

Toffolo told The Iron PlayerHD: “We’ve executed a gameplan excellently so far this season, so there’s no reason why we can’t continue.

“I wasn’t here in the first game, but every time I’ve played Port Vale before it’s a big pitch. Thankfully on Saturday it’s here.

“You’re always going to get a good game against them and I’ve got a couple of friends there, so it’ll be good to see them as well.”

Toffolo stated everyone in the dressing is itching to get back out on the pitch, following the postponement of Saturday’s match with Charlton Athletic at the Valley.

“We can’t wait now, we just want to get back into it,” he declared.

“Because we missed the game on Saturday, we know we’ve got a lot of hard training to do to catch up.

“Now we can build up to the game and look forward to a game finally back here (at Glanford Park).”

Reflecting on Saturday’s frustrations, Toffolo highlighted that the safety of both supporters and players should always be the most important thing to consider.

He went on to say the decision taken by referee Dean Whitestone was the correct one, given the sub-zero temperatures in London which led to the pitch becoming frozen overnight.

“We made the trip down on Friday,” he explained.

“It was a long drive from here, and we went down not knowing that the game was going to be off - as far as we knew it was on.

“That’s not down to us as players, we turned up to do our job and the game wasn’t on, so it was unfortunate.

“You’ve got to make sure everything’s right, especially with fans coming to the game, and I think it was the right decision to do that with the pitch as it was.”
