WE'RE PLEASED WITH A CLEAN SHEET

15 February 2017

Assessing Tuesday’s goalless draw with Walsall at Glanford Park, United ‘keeper Luke Daniels believes there were plus points to be taken from the performance.

Daniels revealed he had mixed emotions about how the game panned out as a whole, but praised his team-mates’ defensive shutout.

Speaking to The Iron PlayerHD after the match, Daniels said: “It’s a clean sheet, which we’ve not had for a while - so that’s a positive.

“We’re disappointed that we’ve not gone on and won the game. However, it’s an improvement on the last two weeks.

“We’ve conceded too many goals recently, so we’re pleased with the clean sheet - a lot of work went into that.”

The 29-year-old says there’s still plenty to be upbeat about moving forward, and insisted it’s only a matter of time before the Iron return to their clinical best.

“It’ll come, we’ve got goals in this side,” declared Daniels.

“We’ve seen earlier this season that we’ve got plenty of goals in this team, so it’s a case of being a bit patient.

“We’re still in a really good position, and we can’t allow ourselves to get too disheartened at this stage.

“We know we’ve got to kick on if we are going to achieve the aim.”

Scunthorpe now travel to Bramall Lane on Saturday afternoon for a top of the table clash with Sheffield United in Sky Bet League One.

Daniels stated the squad is relishing the challenge of visiting the league leaders, in an encounter which he confident of getting a positive outcome in.

Daniels stated: “It’s a massive game.

“We’re still very confident that we can go there and get a result.

“We are under no illusions that it’s going to be a very difficult place to go, but it’s a game where we do feel we can get a result.”
