ALL OF THE BOYS ARE PUMPED UP FOR IT

28 February 2017

Iron frontman Craig Davies says every member of the squad is itching to get back to winning ways against AFC Wimbledon at Glanford Park on Tuesday night.

Davies is expecting no favours from Neal Ardley’s side though, and states United will have to be on it if they’re to take three points off the Dons.

Speaking to The Iron PlayerHD, Davies said: “Like most teams in this league, they’re hard-working, they play a certain way and they’re going to come at us.

“We’re up at the top. Everyone wants to knock those teams off and they want to take points from them.

“It’s not going to be an easy game, it’s going to be tough. Like it was when Shrewsbury and Port Vale came here - they fought for everything.

“We’re still in a very good position.

“All the boys are pumped up for it, because some of the results recently haven’t been what we’ve wanted or expected.”

The Welshman is keen to build on what he felt was a well deserved point at Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

He declared the performance can be used as a stepping stone to more positive results moving forward - starting with AFC Wimbledon.

“We finished strong,” he explained.

“It’s a point at the end of the day, and we’ve put another point on the board.

“The boys missed out on the play-offs by goal difference last year, and that extra point would have helped them.

“In the first half they were probably the better team, but in the second period we really kicked on and started to show quality.

“Hopefully we can do that, get the points and look forward to Saturday afterwards. I think we need to take it one game at a time and next up is Wimbledon, so we’ll focus on that.”

Davies came off the bench to good effect in the weekend’s clash with the Gas, but the 31-year-old insists he’s constantly striving for more.

“Yeah, I was to be fair (pleased with his impact from the bench),” declared Davies.

“I still feel I can do more, so hopefully in the last 13 games I can really push and bring that to the team.”
