The Iron’s Under-18s put in an impressive performance but were beaten 2-0 at Port Vale on Friday afternoon.

There were aspects to be encouraged by, as United played some exceptional football, sticking to the plan and structure worked on in training all week, and created numerous chances.

Unfortunately, they weren’t as clinical as they needed to be though and inevitably lost the game to one mistake and one unfortunate incident.

After Christmas, the Under-18s will work again on that final third area which has just deserted them at times this year. They created enough chances to win two or three games. Although the result wasn’t positive, it was a really positive performance and a good way to end the year.
