Conor Townsend netted the Iron’s second goal in their 2-2 draw at Blackburn Rovers and the full back was happy to be on the scoresheet for the second time in three games.

His goal came nine minutes after the home side had taken a 2-1 lead, but he feels United perhaps deserved all three points.

After the match, Townsend spoke to iFollow Iron about the contest, his goal and the Bury match on Monday.

ON THE 2-2 DRAW…
CT: It was a good game. They are up there in the league and coming to clubs like this is always going to be a challenge. I think we stood up to it, especially going down twice. It shows the characters we’ve got in the team to come back. Hopefully we can use this and build on it. For me personally, the game was very enjoyable. There was a good atmosphere to it and good travelling support. It was end-to-end at times, but I am delighted to get the point. Although, I think we were a little bit unlucky to not get the three.

ON HIS GOAL…
CT: I don’t really score many, but it’s always nice when I do. To get an equaliser was nice as well.

ON PLAYING ON MONDAY…
CT: It’s a quick turnaround. It always is this time of year. The lads will be trying to recover the best they can and ready to go again on Monday.

ON COMING BACK INTO THE SIDE…
CT: I feel good. I had four or five weeks training and getting my minutes in the odd cup games. I felt ready to come into the team and hopefully I have been showing that desire to keep my place.
